Infant English Lesson Plan
Title: Daily Routines
Aim: To teach young learners common daily routines and associated vocabulary.
Objectives:
- To introduce and practice key vocabulary related to daily routines.
- To practice speaking skills through dialogue practice.
- To engage learners in fun and interactive activities to reinforce learning.
Time: 45 minutes
Materials: Flashcards, picture cards, a whiteboard or flipchart, markers.
Procedure:
1. Warm-up (5 minutes)
- Greet the children and sing a hello song together.
- Use flashcards to elicit vocabulary related to daily routines. (e.g. wake up, brush teeth, eat breakfast, go to school, etc.)
2. Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes)
- Present the vocabulary on the whiteboard or flipchart one by one.
- Introduce each word, say and spell it, and model the pronunciation.
- Use picture cards to provide visual support and engage the children in guessing the word.
3. Dialogue Practice (15 minutes)
- Divide the children into pairs or small groups.
- Distribute dialogue cards to each group.
- Model the dialogue with a proficient student.
- Allow time for the children to practice the dialogue with their partner/group.
- Encourage them to use the vocabulary they have learned.
4. Fun Activities (15 minutes)
- Play a matching game where the children match the pictures of daily routines with the corresponding words.
- Use flashcards to play a miming game. Children take turns to choose a card and act out the routine while others guess what it is.
- Conduct a "Simon says" activity, instructing the children to perform different daily routines based on your commands.
5. Review and Conclusion (5 minutes)
- Recap the key vocabulary by showing flashcards and asking the children to say the words.
- Summarize the lesson by asking the children about their own daily routines.
- Sing a goodbye song and say goodbye to each child individually.
